Week 2

“You can’t make a great play unless you do it first in practice”   Chuck Noll

Practice plans were put into action this week at Golf Prep Junior Academy.   This year student videos, notes, and practice plans are housed in online Ebooks,  pictured above.  This living document will be updated regularly throughout the year giving coaches, students and parents the ability to turn the pages and see student progress.

Full swing practice on the range with FlightScope 3D radar allows coaches and students to measure swing changes and monitor improvement.  Here Tim and Walker are talking about his training plan while they wait for FlightScope to capture the shot data.

Short game practice included some work with AimPoint green reading strategies this week, with much more of this to come throughout the year.

Rik ball toss

Back to the range for more practice plan work.  Here Rik is working with a medicine ball toss on right side rotation FEEL, in order to then take that feel back to his shots on the tee.  Tim says to “Watch the ball fly Rik!”

More short game practice – around the greens this time.  On the left, Art chips to targets of various lengths, and on the right he keeps his focus while the sprinklers provide a lively backdrop.

Of course, the week also included some on course practice sessions; and of course, Rik made teams and created a friendly competition.

By practicing with a purpose, working on the identified areas of need from assessments last week,  keeping in mind all the little things that can make a big differnce, starting fitness training at Beach City Health and Fitness, competing and having fun, Golf Prep students were able to take a step towards achieveing their goals – and we are only in Week 2.
